Every wreck has a story waiting to be discovered. From sunken ships and aircraft to artificial reefs teeming with marine life, the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty lets you explore some of the ocean’s most fascinating dive sites safely and responsibly.
At Zero Limits Diving, we’ll teach you the skills and confidence to explore wrecks with respect, curiosity, and adventure while uncovering a hidden world that few people ever get to experience.
Prerequisites
To enrol in the PADI Wreck Diver Specialty course, you must:
- Be a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or hold an equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
- Be at least 15 years old.
Course Outline
During four exciting wreck dives, you’ll learn how to:
- Safely plan and conduct wreck dives.
- Research and respect historically significant wrecks.
- Survey and map a wreck site.
- Use reels and penetration lines correctly.
- Navigate wrecks safely while protecting both the wreck and its marine life.
- Prevent disturbing silt and fragile underwater environments.
This specialty also brings you one step closer to achieving the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.
Equipment
You’ll use your standard scuba equipment together with:
- Dive light
- Underwater compass
- Slate
- Wreck reel and line
- Other specialised wreck diving equipment as required
Your Zero Limits Diving Instructor will explain the purpose of each item and ensure you’re comfortable using it throughout the course.
Getting Started
Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive your PADI Wreck Diver learning materials to complete before your practical training begins.
One of our experienced Zero Limits Diving PADI Instructors will then contact you to schedule your training dives and prepare you for the incredible wrecks you’ll be exploring.
Practical training typically takes 3–4 days and is usually conducted over weekends, with weekday training available by prior arrangement.
