Do you love diving and dream of sharing the underwater world with others? The PADI Divemaster Course is your first step into the world of professional scuba diving. It’s where passionate divers become confident leaders, mentors, and role models within the global diving community.

Working closely with a Zero Limits Diving PADI Instructor, you’ll refine your diving skills, strengthen your rescue abilities, and develop the leadership, knowledge, and confidence needed to supervise dive activities and assist with diver training. Whether your goal is to work at a tropical dive resort, on a liveaboard, or at your local dive centre, becoming a PADI Divemaster opens the door to exciting career opportunities around the world.

Prerequisites

To enrol in the PADI Divemaster Course, you must:

  • Be a PADI Rescue Diver (or hold an equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Have completed Emergency First Response Primary & Secondary Care (CPR and First Aid) within the previous 24 months.
  • Have a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.
  • Have a minimum of 40 logged dives to begin the course and 60 logged dives to earn certification.

Equivalent certifications from other recognised diver training organisations may qualify. Contact us for more information.

Course Outline

The PADI Divemaster Course develops your leadership skills through classroom learning, practical workshops, water skills assessments, and real-world experience assisting instructors and supervising certified divers.

Throughout the course you will learn:

  • The role and responsibilities of a PADI Divemaster.
  • Leadership and professional diving skills.
  • Dive planning, supervision, and risk management.
  • How to assist instructors with student diver training.
  • Dive site organisation and management.
  • Conducting professional dive briefings.
  • Mapping dive sites.
  • Organising search and recovery activities.
  • Leading certified divers on guided dives.
  • Environmental awareness and responsible diving practices.
  • The business of diving and career opportunities within the dive industry.

You may also have the opportunity to complete additional PADI Specialty certifications such as Deep Diver and Search & Recovery Diver as part of your professional development.

Equipment

As a future dive professional, you’ll be expected to own and become proficient with your personal scuba equipment.

During your training you’ll use:

  • Complete personal scuba equipment
  • Dive computer
  • Compass
  • Dive knife or cutting tool
  • Surface Marker Buoy (SMB) and signalling devices
  • Lift bags and search & recovery equipment
  • Underwater slates and mapping equipment

Your Zero Limits Diving Instructor will guide you through the professional equipment required and recommend any additional gear that will benefit you throughout your diving career.

Getting Started

Once you’ve enrolled and your payment has been confirmed, you’ll receive access to your PADI Divemaster learning materials, allowing you to begin the knowledge development portion of the course at your own pace.

Throughout your training, you’ll work closely with a Zero Limits Diving PADI Instructor, completing knowledge reviews, workshops, water skills assessments, practical leadership exercises, and real-world training while gaining valuable experience in a professional diving environment.

For those looking to further strengthen their knowledge, PADI Dive Theory eLearning is also available and can provide credit towards part of the Divemaster final examination.
