Prerequisites

To enrol in the PADI Digital Underwater Photographer Specialty course, you must:

  • Be a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or hold an equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
  • Be at least 10 years old.

Course Outline

During this course, you’ll learn how to:

  • Choose the right underwater camera system for your diving adventures.
  • Use the PADI SEA (Shoot, Examine, Adjust) method to improve your photos.
  • Understand the three key principles of underwater photography.
  • Position yourself correctly in relation to marine life, reefs, lighting, and currents.
  • Maintain excellent buoyancy while taking photographs without disturbing the environment.
  • Capture clear, colourful, and creative underwater images.

Completing this specialty also brings you one step closer to achieving the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

Equipment

You’ll use your standard scuba equipment together with:

  • Digital underwater camera system
  • Underwater housing
  • Camera accessories (where applicable)
  • Underwater slate (optional)

Your Zero Limits Diving Instructor will help you get the most from your camera setup and recommend equipment suited to your experience and goals.

Getting Started

Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive your PADI Digital Underwater Photographer learning materials before your practical training begins.

One of our experienced Zero Limits Diving PADI Instructors will then contact you to schedule your training sessions and guide you through every step of the course.

Practical training typically takes 1–2 days and is usually conducted over weekends, with weekday training available by prior arrangement.
