Your scuba equipment is your lifeline underwater, and understanding how it works gives you greater confidence on every dive. The PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty teaches you how to care for, maintain, and perform basic repairs on your dive gear, helping you avoid missing dives because of simple equipment issues.

At Zero Limits Diving, we believe that knowing your equipment makes you a safer, more prepared diver, allowing you to spend more time enjoying the adventure and less time worrying about your gear.

Prerequisites

To enrol in the PADI Equipment Specialist Specialty course, you must:

  • Be a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or hold an equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
  • Be at least 10 years old.

Course Outline

During this hands-on course, you’ll learn how to:

  • Perform routine care and maintenance on your scuba equipment.
  • Properly clean and store your dive gear.
  • Diagnose and solve common equipment problems.
  • Replace simple items such as O-rings and fin straps.
  • Better understand how your scuba equipment works.
  • Configure your equipment for greater comfort and performance.

Depending on the session, you’ll also have the opportunity to try different equipment configurations in the water.

Completing this specialty also brings you one step closer to achieving the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

Equipment

You’re encouraged to bring your own scuba equipment so you can become familiar with maintaining the gear you dive with most often. Additional equipment and demonstrations will be provided by your Zero Limits Diving Instructor throughout the course.

Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive your PADI Equipment Specialist learning materials before your training begins.

One of our experienced Zero Limits Diving PADI Instructors will then contact you to schedule your course and answer any questions you may have.

This course is completed in 1 practical day and is usually conducted over weekends, with weekday training available by prior arrangement.
