At Zero Limits Diving, we believe that the more we understand the ocean, the better we can protect it. This course will inspire you to become a confident diver, an informed ocean advocate, and a passionate ambassador for shark conservation.

Prerequisites

To enrol in the PADI AWARE Shark Conservation Specialty course, you must:

• Be a PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver (or hold an equivalent certification from another recognised training agency).
• Be at least 12 years old.

Course Outline

Through knowledge development and two open water dives, you’ll learn:

• Why sharks are vital to healthy marine ecosystems.
• The conservation status of sharks and the threats they face.
• How healthy shark populations benefit our oceans and local economies.
• Practical ways you can help protect sharks.
• How divers around the world are making a difference through conservation.

The first dive of this specialty may also count as an Adventure Dive towards your PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Completing this course also brings you one step closer to achieving the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver rating.

Equipment

You’ll use your standard scuba equipment throughout the course. Your Zero Limits Diving Instructor will provide guidance on responsible shark diving practices and how to safely observe these incredible animals in their natural environment.

Getting Started

Once you’ve enrolled, you’ll receive your PADI AWARE Shark Conservation learning materials to begin your journey into shark conservation.

One of our experienced Zero Limits Diving PADI Instructors will then contact you to schedule your practical training.

Practical training typically takes 1–2 days and is usually conducted over weekends, with weekday training available by prior arrangement.
